RE: WOWbb

oh yea. but since I do custom themes I would advise to do it both ways (FTP and admin panel) so you could have many many many themes. I know some sites with 15 or more different theme options.

RE: WOWbb

I guess I still prefer the way these are set up, where i can do everything from the admin panel for themes. I can create template sets, and then i can create themes (with styles and such) based off those template sets. So basically the same thing, only different way of going about it. Just a form of user preference.

It still is nice to know that you can create themes for it, and that that part of it is fully featured.

RE: WOWbb

Howdy, Brian. TVDinner is absolutely right - WowBB has some interesting features and simplicity. If you find WowBB interesting I think you will really find WowClassic interesting. It is an authorized "franchise" of WowBB and the main difference is the additional features in it above the standard WowBB software. It is also has a free 24/7 service response rate unlike any other (I am biased, I help service it ... well, I help out as best I can as I am good friends with the owner, Nancy).

WowBB's most successful, largest, mod and theme shop (called the WowBB Theme Mall) is run by Nancy Chandler. Guess who runs and owns WowClassic: Nancy Chandler. Smile

I know so much about it because my personal forum site nearing 200,000 posts was the breeding ground for Classic when I started producing mods for WowBB and working with Nancy on themes and mods. We did beta testing and brainstorming together for Classic at that time. I am excited about the big features we have coming out later this year.

Here is the website: http://wowclassicbb.com/

Here is the topic that shows you the enhanced extra features you get:

http://wowclassicbb.com/forums/view_topi...orum_id=14

At FOS you can see some customized layouts and free themes I did for it. I started doing custom theme services so made FOS as a place to hang out with admins that I like and hopefully get a theme gig or two a month. I enjoy doing them. You can see the samples in a stickie in the FOR SALE forum.

So WowBB + more features = WowClassic. I think I will start a new topic for Classic since it is its own entity on its own evolutionary path. In fact, that is another strong feature of Classic I wanted you to know about - it is on a very aggressive upgrade path - two free, but very significant upgrades this year so far even though it has only been open like 4 months! Read the testimonials, ask away at the site. I'm proud of Nancy, I really am. She's a sweet, religious lady that you could trust with anything.

Maybe one day we can do a kick butt custom theme for you that maximize the atmosphere and message you want visitors to absorb and feel. I might even be able to get you a discount on that since you run a site for Admins.

RE: WOWbb

Thanks for sharing the information about WOWbb classic. A lot of those features that are listed are ones that are definitely missing from WOWbb, (or at least what I have experienced with it).

I will say that I am still not that big of a fan of the whole basic look of Wowbb...maybe that is something I will get over, but I really just don't like it that much.

RE: WOWbb

Brian - I suggest making new threads for WOWClassic and WOWUltra, which are the 2 current stand alone WOWbb offshoots. You could potentially move Wolverine's post to being the first post in the WOWClassic thread. That way there will be no confusion as WOWbb still exists and is about to release a new version. Just a thought.

You are very welcome, thanks for allowing me a chance to spotlight Nancy, she is a great person.

The "look" can be changed easily enough. Classic looks different and that is just the default. If you check out FOS and check out the themes in account preferences you can see a taste of some variety.

What I liked about WowBB when I first discovered it was that I was a total newbie and there are many things that made it easier for me to get done what I wanted to get done. I also thought the whole set up felt more creative or something, that other software all looked the same and too busy.

-Posts Merged: Please edit your previous post if it is yours instead of posting twice in a row, unless a substantial amount of time has passed. Thanks, Brian
