What are forums missing?

What is one of the big things you think forum sites are missing? I am referring to sites that are basically their forums.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to have my own emoticons when I am on a site. So user-based emoticons so to speak.

RE: What are forums missing?

That would be a nice feature (kind of like what instant messengers do, although it would require a bit of storage space if you have a lot of members, depending on how it is implemented)

RE: What are forums missing?

That's the trick, apparently. Making it efficient. I'd like to see someone come up with something that is doable for forums.

RE: What are forums missing?

Well I think there are really two ways to go about doing that....

One is where you have multiple themes that a user can choose from to use themselves, and another where a user uploads their own theme (although allowing users to upload their own things can be an issue with regards to copyright and other issues with the content being inappropriate)

RE: What are forums missing?

Thanks for the input on that, Brian! I feel as though it is a good way to help cement members, getting them to feel more at home. It probably encourages slightly better posts with more people feeling more armed to express themselves.
