I have a separate computer room for my desktop computer, which also doubles up as library and music/creation room. I also have a desk in my own room, where my laptop rests.

Changing image information inside Photoshop

So, I have this problem. I'm working on a website, and I show a slideshow. Each frame has the size 271px x 60px. This works just fine in Firefox. In IE(6), however, there is a serious problem. For whatever reason, IE(6) just resizes each frame and shrinks it to 200px x 60px, 150px x 60px or something. I have no freaking idea why IE(6) does this. Again, this only happens in IE.

So, I ran a few tests to see what's going on. It seems that the code itself works fine. As I replace images with ones that I just created using Photoshop, they don't shrink. So, ... what I'm speculating now is that I need change image information inside Photoshop somehow so that, no matter what, IE(6) knows that all these frames have the size 271px x 60px.

Now, how can I do that ...???

I have been using two monitors for so long, I hate the thought of using one. It's a habit I stuck with from the film/video editing days where you really needed it. I benefit from two monitors and love the extra space and convenience.

Any other monitor whores out there like me?

What is one of the big things you think forum sites are missing? I am referring to sites that are basically their forums.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to have my own emoticons when I am on a site. So user-based emoticons so to speak.

I spend anywhere between 6-8 hours on my computer, mostly online. This is my current situation. I'm okay about it, but realising that I need to get out more in general.

Surprisingly today, haven't spent much time. Only tonight-now-this morning.

I came across this new tool at AdminFusion and wanted to share it. I just tried it and it is pretty wild. You might have to hit "reload this page" to see them all like I had to. It lets you see your site, or a site you are working on, in different monitor resolutions and browsers to aid in your efforts to make your site as compliant or compatible as you like!

Ever hear of WowClassic? I thought I would start a thread for future discussions instead of it being mingled with the WowBB thread. I copied most of it into here.

Image mapping

I've been studying image mapping and training in it. I've checked it out in the past but have been dying to try it, so I did. I always pictured communities actually looking like communities - you know, a town, a village, a city, futuristic fort, whatever turned you on or helped create the atmosphere you wanted to radiate. I decided to go to try it with one of my sites and just said what the heck, make it the homepage, be different, take a chance. I haven't learned how to do java scripting for fancy effects, and need to study all the pros and cons more, but I went with the conservative standard deal just for now. Getting my feet wet, trying to pool my related skills and vision into things more.

Bravo to Mapedit!

I used mapedit for the image mapping code work. It's a nice program! I can't believe it's free, too.

I just added a medieval village that you can see if you go to your account preferences and switch themes.

I'm preparing to offer this type of service as part of my existing custom theming services for WowBB and WowClassic software.

Anyone else here ever dibble in image mapping? I am particularly interested in anyone who has a lot of experience using the alternate or advanced methods, such as using javascript.

JavaScript image slide show that works ...

I use JavaScript image slide show often; for some reason, my clients seem to like it. But there are a couple of technical problems such as ...

1. When not all images are loaded, slide show looks messy.

2. When two or more slide shows are displayed, they don't seem to work so well. Preloading problem, etc.

What's the best JavaScript image slide show script out there? I want to be able to display a couple of different slide shows comfortably. I want the script to preload images AND THEN start playing the slide show. I took a look at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex...deshow.htm , but this does not do all these things.

One of websites that I'm currently working on displays two JavaScript slide shows. If and when all images are loaded, then the website looks fine, but if not, slide shows look really messy; I need to resolve this problem.

I believe JavaScript image preloading is the solution to this problem, but I already preload images like the following:
